Fuelled by coffee and crisps, you’ll usually find me cheerleading my friends and clients, listening to a personal development podcast, ‘unschooling my daughter’, or sea swimming at the beach on my doorstep.
A decade ago I was swirling around in my office chair under the fluorescent lights above my desk, knowing I was not where I was meant to be. I was running my creative side business in the evenings and on weekends whilst my corporate job in marketing left me overworked and underpaid. Most days you'd find me trying to 'Google' my way out of my office job and into the life and business I desperately wanted.
Let me tell you, it felt like glitter was shooting out of my eye sockets the moment I walked out of that office and into the exciting world of entrepreneurship. Being my own boss enabled me to do work that I love supporting incredible women all the while working from my laptop from anywhere in the world.
Quitting my job was just the beginning.
At the peak of my so-called “success” I was fully booked yet completely depleted, juggling all-nighters, a newborn, and a business that looked amazing on paper but left me burned out. I was always too wired to enjoy days out and felt too busy to switch off.
I discovered I was a perfectionist (and not in a good way) who had spent decades following the crowd and people-pleasing but with a deep knowing I wasn’t where I was meant to be. I constantly ignored my intuition, making excuses and telling myself to stop being ungrateful for what I already had.
Fast forward a few years, and I joined an organisation as their Chief Operating Officer while running my business on the side. It was a mental health charity, so the work felt meaningful and I appreciated the regular income. But over time, I realised it wasn’t so different from the corporate roles I had left behind. I was compromising my values to keep a job that fit around my childcare needs, and it slowly drained my spark.
The final straw came when I was put in a position that forced me to question the ethics and morals of yet another decision and I knew I couldn’t spend another day silencing what I believed in. So, I woke up the next day and resigned. No backup plan, just enough confidence that I’d figure it out.
Over the next few months, I had time off to rethink everything - choosing alignment over exhaustion and authenticity over perfection. I had to surrender, allow myself to rest, ask for help and build myself back up again.

Having experienced both the corporate world and working for myself, nothing beats the freedom of being your own boss. Your efforts are your own and you don’t have to ask permission to go to the dentist or to take care of your kids. You get to design your life the way YOU want it and spend your time working how, when, and wherever you like.
At the start of my business journey I was driven by lofty financial goals and would work with anyone who was willing to pay. Today, I’m passionate about living consciously, working with the ‘right’ people and maintaining the freedom and flexibility I love. I start by asking my clients, what drives you? What do you want your day-to-day to look like? What type of mum or partner do you want to be? For me, I don’t want to be dreading my alarm on a Monday morning and be too busy to switch off and have fun with my family. I want to be excited to talk to clients and do the work, not rolling my eyes. I also realised my old dream to make 6/7 figures was all my ego, and when I wrote down the numbers, I learned I don’t actually need a million to have the life I dream of, so I let that sh!t go. Once I released the lofty money goals and focused on the work I really wanted to do, my income started to flow with ease.
